Lyle's Bar In Gourock Set For Final Weekend After Announcing Closure

The owner of a Gourock venue which re-opened under a new name just last year has announced that its doors will close for the final time this weekend.

Lyle's Bar is set to shut for good on Sunday night due to 'spiralling running costs' and 'ongoing health issues' for landlord Craig Hunter.

The former Monteith's Bar on Shore Street, owned by Inverclyde businessmen Sandy and James Easdales’ Dalglen Property Investments, underwent a major refurbishment having been empty since the end of the former tenancy in 2022.

A statement shared on social media today read: "As many of you are by now aware, it is with much regret that have to inform you of the impending closure of our wee bar.

"Due to spiralling running costs, but mainly due to my current ongoing health issues, I will no longer be able to continue leasing the bar.

"The bar will close its doors on Sunday night after we have a MASSIVE final weekend."

Lyle's Bar, a popular local gig venue, will play host to Eagles and The Beatles tribute act The Beagles from 8pm until late on Saturday evening as part of its farewell weekend.

Duo Sonic Void will be the bar's last band to perform, taking to the stage from 4pm until 7pm on Sunday.

The Facebook post added: "What possible other way can we possibly finish off our entertainment, than with the one and only, he’s been with us from the start, everyone loves him, KYE and his amazing KARAO’KYE.

"It’s gonnae be emotional, it’s gonnae be messy, it’s gonnae be rowdy, what more appropriate way can we finish things off?"
