CGC Breaks £30m Turnover Barrier

City Gate Construction has been appointed as the developer of the McPherson Development in Gourock

City Gate Construction (CGC) has seen the fruits of its continued investment after reporting breaking the £30m barrier in turnover as a result of continuing to develop and forge strategic partnerships within their marketplace and investing in local people, plant, equipment, and technology despite the challenges facing the industry and have no intention of stopping growth.

The Renfrewshire company formed in 2003 specialises in Construction, Refurbishment, Fabrication, M&E services, and Bespoke Joinery including fit-out and social housing repairs, maintenance, and regeneration.

CGC offer a genuinely bespoke service to their customers from specialist emergency repairs, day-to-day Maintenance, refurbishment, and void works to full planned maintenance programmes across a variety of industries.

Further exciting times lie ahead for the business recently having been appointed as the main contractor for Globe Homes on both of their development sites at Upper Gourock to build 22 new homes for Inverclyde, which Bowman Rebecchi will be selling, and Houston to build a range of 3, 4 and 5-bed luxury homes.

To support the growth of the business and encourage young people to join the Construction industry as a great career choice, CGC has again committed for the 4th year in succession to enrol 7 apprenticeships and 2 Graduates inside June.

The firm, which employs 227 people from six locations including the recent opening of their new Birmingham office continues to expand after again securing major contracts from local authorities throughout Central Scotland, housing associations nationwide and exclusive private developers, recently starting work on The Linn, a unique Victorian property on the Rosneath peninsula.

Scheduled for the end of May following a £350,000 investment, it will see the opening of a new fabrication workshop located at Bellshill that will increase its production capacity to its customers and home to their recently formed Door Division offering a wide range of services from installation, service and repair of doors including roller shutters, sectional doors, steel doors, automatic doors, and fire doors.

CGC has also invested £200,000 on a complete revamp of their IT network, including cloud migration meaning all operatives will now be using hand-held devices daily.

The handhelds will be used to project manage all works, contain necessary contract information, ensure safe systems of work and will update workflow through to completion all connected in real-time to their systems back in head office, taking their IT environment to the next level.

Dimension, which is part of CGC that designs and manufactures high-quality commercial joinery, and bespoke hotel and retail interiors have also received investment with additional woodworking machines and edgebanding machines being added to their workshop.

These machines now allow CGC to increase their current capacity of manufacturing a range of internal/external wooden doors including high-performance fire-rated doors and door sets in a range of weights and finishes.

Our people are our greatest asset. Their hard work, commitment, and vision have been the most vital component in the continuous development of CGC going from strength to strength and achieving this remarkable accomplishment.
