Inverclyde Business Community Comes Together For ICON Awards 2022

Inverclyde Chamber’s annual business awards returned last Friday at The Chartroom at Kip Marina in Inverkip, recognising business excellence in Inverclyde.

An enthusiastic crowd of 150 people cheered the 10 winners being crowned at Inverclyde’s largest business event, now in its 17th year.

The ambitious Diodes Incorporated were the main sponsors of the event, alongside Golden Casket and West College Scotland, all signifying their ongoing support for the Inverclyde business community.

Chamber President Mark Spragg highlighted the Chamber’s achievements since the previous Bee’s Knees Awards were held in 2019 and focused on the response in supporting the business community throughout the pandemic as Inverclyde businesses bounce back.

Inverclyde Provost, Drew McKenzie gave the principal address and profiled the economic grant support awarded by Inverclyde Council to the business community and the importance of business success to the local economy.

The ICON Awards welcomed a new host in sports broadcaster David Tanner, who shared his personal memories and experiences with his links to Inverclyde as a former Gourock Primary pupil. David kept the lively audience entertained throughout.

A raffle on the evening raised £1,100 towards the chosen charity for the awards, Inverclyde Shed which was collected by Trustee, Bruce Newlands.

Mark Spragg, ICC President said: “Friday’s event marked a crucial step on the road to normality for our business community.

“Having had to cancel the previous two events due to Covid-19 was bitterly disappointing, but we witnessed a fantastic response from all our sponsors, companies entering and our guests on the night.”

“Thank you to Shari Workman and the entire Chamber Board for all their hard work before and on the night to ensure our guests had a great time and deliver the awards. A special thank you also to The Chartroom for hosting another superb evening.
