Inverclyde Records The Lowest Average House Prices In Scotland

Inverclyde recorded the lowest average house price in Scotland for almost every month in 2023, a new study has revealed.

Analysis by Walker Fraser Steele shows the district fell to the bottom of the monthly table on ten occasions during the year.

In December, the average price fell by 0.5 per cent to £137,919 – well below the national figure of £222,288.

Across Scotland, a total of 16 local authorities registered a year-on-year in increase in prices in 2023, with East Renfrewshire topping the table on 9.1 per cent.

Inverclyde’s average price fell by 0.6 per cent in the past year.

Scott Jack, regional development director at Walker Fraser Steele, said: “At a regional level, many things can support price movements both positive and negative, whether that be the market demand for certain types of property as we saw in the pandemic or the supply of new housing developments in an area.

“While the levels of transactions are still substantially reduced, this remains a buyer’s market but, regional differences aside, this data suggests any gap in the expectations of buyers and sellers has significantly narrowed.”
