Local Scout Gets Businesses Support For Aid Mission

Local businesses, including Bowman Rebecchi, have stepped up to support a local Scout getting to Nepal to support its recovery from earthquakes.

Charlie Kane is part of a group of 60 Scouts travelling to Kathmandu in July to spend two weeks volunteering as part of a team to build classrooms and community play equipment for the Nepalese children who were struck by the disasters in 2015.

To generate funds for the trip, Charlie's family is hosting a race night on 17th March at the Caledonian Bar in Port Glasgow.

On the two-week trip to Nepal, as well as getting stuck into the building work, Charlie and his fellow Scouts will learn about the language and culture of the region and attend civic events in their kilts.

The teenager has already attended training camps with the Scouts in preparation for his Nepal mission, organised in partnership with Projects Abroad.
