Plan To Change Vacant Shop Into Dog Groomers

A dog grooming business wants to use an empty Gourock shop as a base.

V.I. Pet Grooming has applied to Inverclyde Council for permission to change the use of premises at 64 Cardwell Road.

The unit was previously an Ardgowan Hospice charity shop and was last used by an antiques retailer.

The business would be open from 9am to 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays; 9am to 2.30pm on Wednesdays and Fridays; and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays.

A statement submitted with the planning application explains: “We have put mitigation procedures in place and any dog that is considered a ‘noise nuisance’ eg excessive barking will not be tolerated.

“We are all life-long dog owners and consider ourselves responsible professionals.”

The proposal, submitted by Rebecchi Architectural, is pending assessment by planning officials.

Bowman Rebecchi’s commercial arm supported with the letting of the property on Cardwell Road.
